Hi gang,
To celebrate World Sleep Day, I thought I would write a post about sleep sprays – what they are and more importantly why you need one. I’m absolutely obsessed with sleep sprays and it’s a luxe nighttime ritual that I utterly adore. And what with Coronavirus sweeping the world at the moment, sleep is more important than ever. Of course a nap won’t cure this killer disease, but getting enough good quality rest is proven to boost your immune system.
What is a sleep spray?
I mean, it kind of does what it says on the tin… it’s a spray that helps you go to sleep. They tend to include a fusion of calming ingredients to tap into your senses and allow you to drift into a peaceful slumber.
Whether it’s a placebo effect or the properties inside actually do help to lull you to the land of nod, it’s certainly worth it, as we all know how essential a good night’s sleep is.
Why do I need a sleep spray?
Of course, not an essential of life like water or chocolate digestives, but fabulous nonetheless. I think we are more than happy to spend big on fashion and beauty but when it comes to wellness, it seems to feel even more indulgent to to treat yourself. This year I’ve been booking in regular massages as part of my own wellbeing mission and I’m also not afraid to spend a little to enhance my bedtime routine.
WHAT ACTUALLY IS A SOUND BATH?
Which sleep spray should I buy?

ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray is probably the hero sleep spray that you have probably seen in most glossy magazines and there’s a reason that this is a go-to product. It smells lovely and the science behind it actually works, with 89% of people saying they fell asleep faster. I’ve just got the tiny sample size that I got with Birchbox, but the regular size is plenty big enough to last you a while.

Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray is a brand available at Boots and I actually got this spray as part of a larger sleep kit which also included a calming shower gel, soothing body lotion and silky eye mask. It smells absolutely divine and the bottle has lasted ages. And at only £7 for a standard bottle, it won’t break the bank – so a great one to try if you’re new to sleep sprays.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I WENT TO THE MALDIVES

Elemis may be known for their incredible skincare offering but I found this to be a little hidden gem of theirs. The fact that it’s called ‘quiet mind’ really reinforces the importance of winding down for bedtime. It’s so easy to be up late watching YouTube or continually scrolling Instagram, but I’m very conscious to create a pleasant atmosphere for sleep each night. Sadly it doesn’t look like it’s available anymore, but they are selling this perfume oil with sleeping benefits that you may wish to check out.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I DID YOGA EVERY DAY FOR A MONTH
How do I use a sleep spray?
My nightly routine includes cleanser, toner, night cream and eye cream and after I’ve completed the cleansing my face step, I reach for my bedside drawer and my sleep spray is the first thing I lay my hands on. A quick spritz of that on my pillow (and Arthur’s too now because he’s also a fan) and then I proceed with the rest of my skincare while the mist sets in.
I’m not claiming that a few squirts of this will cure insomnia or ensure you drop off in a matter of minutes, however, I do think it adds something positive to my nightly ritual. It’s definitely a bedtime luxury that I now cannot live without! Apologies in advance for getting you addicted too…
