The fashion trends I’ll be trying this summer

The heatwave we had last week got me majorly excited about summer. And as we’ve been plunged back into winter weather this week, I’m longing for those balmy summer days even more. And with any new season, comes new clothes*, right?

*and bags, and shoes, and jewellery, and make-up…

Here are a few of the latest fashion trends that I’ll be rocking this summer…

The final straw

Straw bags are my actual obsession. I purchased two beautiful ones in Marrakech, and I’ve since purchased two more back in the UK. OOPS! Here are three more that are on my handbag hit list. This Topshop beauty with cute crabs. Need I say more? And I’m totes loving this statement pom pom basket bag from Accessorize too – a great size for all of your beachside essentials. And finally, this smaller New Look side bag. How adorable?

It’s a string thing

Yes, okay, I have a slight bag addiction. But just look at how beeeeeeautiful these string babies are!!! Even if you do have to risk flashing the contents of your bag (tampons and all) to the whole world, it’s totally worth it to be queen of chic. First up, this statement number from Zara to wow at the beach, then this iconic Topshop wonder (that I’ve fallen in love with thanks to Sophie Milner!), and then finally, my fave of them all – this Mango one that is perfect for the office AND the beach. Winning. At. Life.

Earn your stripes

Finding office-appropriate summer clothes can be tricky (as I discovered when temps soared last week and I had to ransack my holiday suitcase). Stripes could be the way to go – sophisticated, chic and totally on trend. This striped jumpsuit from New Look would be ideal for so many occasions and I’m definitely set on getting myself a striped blazer, like this Mango one. Then, last but by no means least, this amazing Forever 21 stripe dress – I just hope it gets hot enough to wear something like this (bring back the heatwave).

All under wraps

Wrap dresses are gonna be BIG this summer – mark my words. A wrap style dress used to be something my mum would sport for a family occasion, but this classic dress style has been given a fashion overhaul. Now with splits, ruffles and tie-up details, being all wrapped up is cooler than ever. I’ve just bought this pink Forever 21 dress, and I’m in love. You can see it properly over on my Instagram story. I also think this Nobody’s Child dress would be fab for those mid-summer days in the office. And this green little gem from River Island combines my love for stripes AND wrap dresses. My prayers have been answered.

Leopard love

I’ll be totally honest – I did not forecast this fashion comeback. I would have laughed you out of town if you would have told me six months ago that I’d be racing around Topshop trying to specifically find a leopard print blouse. But that’s happened. With so many ways to work this print, it’s worth giving it a go this season. This gorgeous ASOS dress that ticks the wrap dress box too, or perhaps a daring swimsuit like this Topshop dreamboat (I love the oversized print – very chic). Or, really go all out with this amazing red blouse from Never Fully Dressed – which happens to be my favourite fashion brand to follow on Instagram – their videos are sooooo good, so do check them out.

So these are the summer styles that I’ll be seeking out for the summer. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the sun makes a welcomed re-appearance…

    1. So glad you like my post. I’ve also just seen that Matalan have some amazing straw bags coming out soon! And those sandals were Topshop last year – I’m sure they’ll do something similar this year so do keep an eye out. X
