My ultimate haircare heroes

Hey girls (and guys),

A wise someone-or-other once said “invest in your hair because it’s the crown you never take off” and I like to live my life by this rule. I thought I would share with you some of my star hair buys that I cannot live without.

HAIR MASK

With naturally straight hair that I like to curl, I’m always conscious of keeping my hair in good condition and this is one of the products that I swear by to do this. My hair is greasy at the roots and dry at the ends (thanks then hair Gods) so this means my ends need a lot more moisture. I achieve this by treating my locks to a hair mask once a week. At the moment, I’m absolutely loving this beauty from Maria Nila. It’s hard to get the balance between being hydrating and still lightweight but this formula manages that perfectly. After using my hair feels SO soft and smooth!

HAIRSPRAY

I don’t use hairspray on a daily basis – I only really need it when I’ve curled my hair and want the style to hold. But, that being said, I really don’t like the ultra-hold hairsprays that make your hair feel crispy and hard. I always go for a natural hold version that keeps my curls in all day but is still touchable and soft. At the moment, I’m loving this Duck & Dry one!

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

When my hair needs a bit more TLC and the one hair mask a week doesn’t seem to be doing the trick, I reach for my leave-in conditioner. I only use this on the ends of my hair (as my previously mentioned greasy roots definitely don’t need any more moisture). After spraying over my ends, I brush the product through and voilà!

HAIR PRIMER

If you’ve read by bargain beauty buys blog post, you would already know that I’m a John Frieda hair serum devotee. But there’s also another product from JF that I love – their hair primer. I use it on wet hair before I blow-dry to get my locks nice and smooth. It’s a miracle worker!

DRY SHAMPOO

Serious question: How did we actually cope before dry shampoo? Like, seriously. My second-day hair always needs a little helping hand from Batiste. You can always count on this brand to deliver. I love the fact that they have such a variety of scents (mainly chosen based on the aesthetics of the packaging) and sometimes I even dabble with the brunette one, but I do find the brown residue that stains my hands and scalp a little off putting.

VOLUME CREAM

Since I’ve had 11 inches chopped off of my hair, I’m always seeking a bit more volume. Before I was happy to rough dry my hair and leave it natural, but now it’s shorter I want a little bit of va-va-voom. I found the perfect TRESemmé product to give me a bit of a lift but not leave my hair feeling sticky or crispy. You only need a 10p-sized amount for the formula to work its magic. I simply apply to damp hair before I dry and it honestly works wonders.

Despite having a whole host of hair styling products and treatments, I’m still struggling to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner. If you guys have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Loved this – I find when it’s really hot out I need to use a leave in conditioner or hair mask as my hair can get so dry! Really want to try the mask you use! Xx

  2. […] What I really like about this moisturiser is that it doesn’t feel too heavy. It hydrates and smooths, but it doesn’t sit on top of my skin like some products do. I apply a 10p-sized amount of this everyday and follow it up with my Face Base to create the perfect canvas for my foundation. If you liked this, check out my hair heroes! […]
